Oscilloscope-Updates

  • DEAR ZACHARY: a letter to a son about his father, a uniquely intense and personal documentary about the murder of Kurt’s oldest friend and the unbelievable legal and emotional madness that ensued.
Adam Yauch: “I was blown away by the intense fast-paced editing, and the way Kurt uses this to convey raw emotion. Kurt is clearly a great filmmaker dealing with a subject that’s close to his heart.”
  • Youssou Ndour: I Bring What I Love. Shot over two years and across three continents, I BRING WHAT I LOVE follows the Grammy winning African icon as he releases his most ambitious album, EGYPT, a best-selling record in which, for the first time, Ndour sings about Islam. Upon release in Senegal, the album was considered blasphemous bringing Ndour, perhaps the most popular Muslim artist in the world, face to face with the contradictions of his own religion. Seamlessly balancing the religious and personal with Ndour’s extraordinarily beautiful and inspirational performances, Vasarhelyi takes us on a cinematic journey along side one of the most important figures in contemporary Africa.
Adam Yauch: “I caught I BRING WHAT I LOVE at the Toronto Film Festival and was really moved by it. Youssou sings from his heart, and hearing him combine his own music with Egyptian music was incredible. It’s great that Chai was able to tell Youssou’s story in such a creative and entertaining way. I’m looking forward to O-Scope bringing this film out to the public.”
  • WENDY and Lucy: In the film, Wendy Carroll (Williams) is driving to Ketchikan, Alaska, in hopes of a summer of lucrative work at the Northwestern Fish cannery, and the start of a new life with her dog, Lucy. When her car breaks down in Oregon, however, the thin fabric of her financial situation comes apart, and she confronts a series of increasingly dire economic decisions, with far-ranging repercussions for herself and her dog.
  • Not Your Typical Bigfoot Movie: Seeking fame, fortune, and notoriety, Wayne and Dallas’ life long friendship is tested when a nationally recognized high-profile California Bigfoot researcher makes a stop in Portsmouth, Ohio a dying former steel town. Showing how the power of a dream can bring two friends together and provide a source of hope and meaning that transcends the harsh realities of their life, Delaney’s honest and often funny look at their idiosyncratic lives, proves that Bigfoot is alive and well in Wayne and Dallas’ world.
Adam Yauch: “Before seeing the film I had no idea Bigfoot could levitate.”
