Wie wir schon bei m2m lesen konnten, mussten die Beastie Boys ihren Auftritt beim Ejekt Festival in Athen abbrechen, Grund dafür: zig Leute haben das Stadium gestürmt und so einiges angezündet. Unter den Besuchern ist Panik ausgebrochen. Auf Pitchfork wird das alles bestätigt.

Wer für den Übergriff auf das Festival verantwortlich ist, ist allerdings noch nicht ganz klar. Pr-Inside spricht von Anarchisten (wie viele andere Quellen auch), Sonic State allerdings von Faschisten. Zwei Gruppierungen, die nicht unbedingt zusammengehören. Die Aussage, dass es eine anarchistische Aktion war, stammt wohl von den Sicherheitskräften des Ejekts und ahnliche Aktionen sind in Griechenland evtl. auch nicht so selten (siehe bei Bombs&Shields oder IHT), aber wie eine kleine Gruppe von anfangs wohl 30 Leuten das schaffen können, ist echt rätselhaft. Denn zumindest einigen Berichten zufolge war genügend und schwer bewaffnete Security vor Ort, zum anderen ist wohl auch eine Polizeistation direkt im Stadium. Bei anderen Resourcen wie Indymedia oder Anarchistnews, wo solche Stories mit mehr Infos auftauchen könnten, ist noch nichts davon zu lesen.

But before the Beastie Boys had had the chance to sing Sabotage, I was choking, my eyes were swollen red and I had to run as fast as I could. Because some idiots thought it would be okay to burn some cars outside the stadium and throw molotov cocktails. Later, we also heard that Underworld’s singer was hurt too, possibly by a flying brick.

After a short break Beastie Boys got on stage and started there tricks. Having managed to sneak to the VIP area we were enjoying some complimentary beers (6-10) when suddently 10-15 masked guys with motorbike helmets, sticks, clubs and other weapons got inside the concert area and started wreaking havoc.. They break everything on site, beat the crap of some people (probably security) destroyed 2 bars and “liberate” the booze throwing bottles in the crowd. The concert stopped, Beastie Boys disappeared from stage and people start running for the exit while others discover their worst instincts and start looting the bars and merchandising area.
